GIS / Mapping

Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer based system used to view and manage information about geographic places, analyze spatial relationships, and model spatial processes. GIS provides a framework for gathering and organizing spatial data and related information so that it can be displayed, analyzed and used in the decision making process. Simply put, GIS combines layers of information about a place to give you a better understanding of that place.

What layers of information you combine depends on your purpose - finding the best location for a new project, analyzing environmental impacts, conducting market studies, and so on. A variety of layers, such as topography, parcels, general plan, zoning, and aerial photography, can be mapped and analyzed at one time by using GIS computer software. Analysis may include conducting queries to identify advantageous project sites, completing studies that assess specified criteria and/or calculating spatial characteristics of a geographic feature/location. Layers can then be symbolized with colors or descriptions in order to obtain a suitable visual representation for use by decision makers.

EnvrioMINE can provide GIS services to fully illustrate a variety of technical and geographic features. These features may include the analysis of local market influences, habitat constraints, transportation corridors, site selection analysis, and other issues of importance. EnvrioMINE also uses GPS technology to aid with site specific data collection. EnvrioMINE incorporates GIS to compliment its commitment to providing excellent customer service. The majority of our staff is GIS/GPS capable and can respond quickly to any of our clients' needs. Maps created with GIS software can be printed and used to support written documents or provide visuals for project meetings. We have the capability to print maps as large as 34" by 44".
